Week 0: design and survey
We measure, check the existing pipework and waste runs, and agree a layout. This is the stage to make changes — moving a soil pipe on paper costs nothing, moving it on site costs days.
Ordering
Sanitaryware, tiles and brassware are ordered and delivered before work starts. The most common cause of a stalled bathroom is a back-ordered item discovered halfway through.
Week 1: strip out and first fix
Old suite removed, walls prepared, pipework and electrics run to the new layout. Wet room formers and underfloor heating go in at this stage.
Week 2: tiling and second fix
Tanking, tiling, then the suite, shower and radiator fitted and connected. Silicone and grout need proper curing time — rushing this is what causes leaks a year later.
Handover
Everything tested under pressure, a full clean, and a walk-through of the controls. Typical full bathroom: two to three weeks, longer for structural changes.
